{"id":3984,"date":"2024-04-27T06:47:09","date_gmt":"2024-04-27T06:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gunbizpos.com\/?p=3984"},"modified":"2024-05-04T23:00:02","modified_gmt":"2024-05-04T23:00:02","slug":"electronic-atf-bound-books","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunbizpos.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/27\/electronic-atf-bound-books\/","title":{"rendered":"Requirements for Electronic Bound Book vs Paper ATF Bound Book"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Needs to be Entered in a Bound Book?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;electronic bound book&nbsp;or paper bound book is the most critical piece of a firearm business&#8217; compliance strategy because it contains detailed records of every firearm that enters or leaves the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many small FFLs start their business using paper bound books.&nbsp; This is cheaper than an electronic bound book and is also a more simple process when starting out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every entry in the book must include several pieces of acquisition information to comply fully with ATF rules and regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Acquisition Date<\/strong>: What was the date that the firearm was obtained &nbsp;by the FFL?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purchaser Information<\/strong>: What is the full name and address of the purchaser?&nbsp; If applicable, the FFL number also needs to be recorded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Firearm Data<\/strong>: The ATF requires that you record several pieces of data on the Serial number for tracking and identification purposes &#8211; including the manufacturer and model, type of firearm (handgun, rifle, or shotgun) and caliber or gauge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your FFL bound book must include the following disposition information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Disposition Date<\/strong>: When was the firearm sold or transferred?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer Information<\/strong>: What is the full name, driver&#8217;s license, and address of the acquiror?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Firearm Details<\/strong>: What is the serial number(s), manufacturer, model, type, caliber\/gauge of the firearm being disposed?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ATF Form 4473 Transaction Number<\/strong>: This links the disposition to the background check and firearms transaction record.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If there are multiple sales, this should also be reported to a government agency and local law enforcement to prevent illegal firearms trafficking and straw purchases.
